Girl with A Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer (book by Tracy Chavelier; film directed by Peter Webber)

Welcome to our English class.  Here's some information about me.

I began teaching in 1999, with this district.  I am happy to be here!

Teaching is a second career for me.  In my "former life" I practiced law as a Legal Aid attorney.  I went to USD Law School.  My undergraduate degree is from Wheaton College, IL.  I was a Literature major and, although I enjoyed certain aspects of the law, I feel like I have returned to my first love -- English/Language Arts.

My husband, Steve, works for Flatiron Construction Corp. as a Senior Estimator. We have twin daughters (b. 1998). Here they are -- or their silhouettes anyway -- at Sea World, many years ago now, but whimsical, yes?

Sometimes that's what it's all about... whimsy, the use of the imagination...  imagery and metaphor -- again, I love Language Arts/English because I get to delight in these things.  I hope you will be able to share some of my enthusiasm (if you don't already!) as we study literature and learn to express ourselves with the written word.
With best wishes for this year then!
